Dao Ethical Gifts

For your business or event

Customizable and unique products, handmade by marginalized women with locally sourced materials,
as an alternative to your traditional corporate gifts.

'Dao' was inspired by the story of a young girl named Duan (Thai for 'moon') and her younger sister Dao (Thai for 'star').

Duan and Dao were living under tin roofs in a marginalized community in Chiang Mai that lacked access to clean water and public services. At only 14 years old, Duan was using a false age so that she could work. She was then married at 15 years old, pregnant at 16 years old, and eventually became a single mother.

The little sister Dao watched on as Duan lost all of her future hopes and dreams.

Dao also had very little hope for a brighter future...

Every woman and girl, no matter where they are from, deserves to live out their dreams. Through Dao Ethical Gifts, we aim to bring a sparkle back into the eyes of women most in need: breaking the cycle of poverty, building ambition and hope for a brighter future.

Dao Ethical Gifts is powered by www.baandekfoundation.org, where 100% of fundraising goes back into their programs supporting children in need.

With our Ethical gifts, we provide work readiness skills and extra income for women in need so that they can build a better future for themselves.

Magali du Parc Crosta, Founder of Dao Ethical Gifts, is a French native who for the past 25 years has been a social worker and anthropologist in developing countries in South-East Asia. She now acts as Executive Director for Baan Dek Foundation, in which she co-founded 16 years ago in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Her commitment towards providing holistic support to vulnerable communities within Thailand based on social work principles is what drove Dao Social Enterprise to become a truly meaningful cause built on transparency and a clear understanding of vulnerable community needs within Thailand.

The women working for Dao are professionals with backgrounds in business, design, and social work.
They are inspiring, and they shine in their work for Dao.
